Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking an OSP Design Tech for our Boise Idaho client. This permanent, on‑site role is based out of Emmett, ID, supporting outside plant telecom projects including relocations, aerial and underground fiber, and network expansion.

Expect a mix of design, field engineering, documentation, and contractor coordination to increase project capacity. The role requires 2+ years in OSP telecom engineering/design, proficiency with Visio and CAD software, and strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of outside plant telecom engineering or design experience.
• Experience supporting telecom construction and field operations.
• Ability to read staking sheets, construction drawings, permitting docs, methods of construction, and right-of-way docs.
• Experience working with Microsoft Visio.
• Familiarity with CAD or telecom design software.
• Strong MS Office skills and organizational abilities.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Develop OSP construction drawings and design packages using Visio and telecom design tools.
• Interpret staking sheets, roadway blueprints, permitting documents, and construction methods.
• Perform field surveys and site inspections to support design and construction activities.
• Maintain accurate outside plant records and project documentation.
• Support engineering, permitting, and construction processes from initiation to completion.
• Inspect contractor work and verify compliance with project requirements.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, municipalities, and internal stakeholders.
• Recommend construction solutions based on field conditions and requirements.
• Assist with route maintenance and network expansion activities.
• Support aerial and underground fiber deployment projects.
• Participate in utility relocation and roadway move projects as needed.
