Qualifications

  • Experience with aerial, buried, and underground telecommunications design and construction practices.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic, copper, and coaxial networks; wireless/cell tower experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and construction documents.
  • Strong understanding and application of NESC guidelines in field conditions.
  • Experience using field data collection tools such as IKE, GIS systems, and KMZ workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication with internal teams, clients, and the public.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field surveys to validate constructability of proposed telecommunications designs.
  • Identify and document field conflicts, including right-of-way constraints, utility clashes, safety concerns, and environmental factors.
  • Collect and document accurate field data for aerial, buried, and underground infrastructure.
  • Evaluate attachment points and apply NESC clearance requirements, including communication worker safety zones.
  • Produce detailed, complete, and standardized field deliverables that minimize rework and support downstream engineering and CAD processes.
  • Utilize tools such as IKE devices, GIS platforms, and KMZ-based workflows to capture and manage field data.
  • Interact professionally with property owners, clients, and stakeholders while representing Mountain Ltd.
  • Work independently in the field while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety standards.
  • Support engineering and permitting processes by ensuring field data aligns with project requirements.

Job description

Mountain Ltd. is seeking an Outside Plant Field Engineer to support telecommunications infrastructure projects in the Boise, Idaho area. This role is responsible for performing field surveys to validate design constructability, document existing conditions, and identify potential conflicts impacting aerial, buried, and underground networks. The OSP Field Engineer collects accurate, high-quality field data and produces standardized deliverables that enable efficient engineering, permitting, and construction.

This position plays a critical role in connecting communities by supporting the deployment of reliable broadband infrastructure. Success in this role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in diverse field environments.

  • Ability to utilize standard field equipment such as measuring wheel, height stick, and laptop (project-dependent).
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
