Job summary

Cable One is seeking an OSP Designer II to develop broadband system designs cost-effectively while upholding Cable One standards. The role uses CAD/GIS tools to support engineering across Technical Operations, Construction, and Engineering.

The candidate will handle design deliverables, learn new software, and contribute to major plant upgrades, with emphasis on accuracy and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent with 5+ years related experience; outside plan design or GIS is preferred.
• Intermediate knowledge of GIS applications (ESRI) and Schneider design software following Cable One standards.
• Knowledge of cable design and materials.
• Familiarity with HFC and fiber symbology.
• Familiarity with telecommunications outside plant equipment, design, and construction techniques.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design new and existing HFC plant extensions.
• Perform base drafting.
• Read walkout information accurately.
• Update as-builts as construction progresses and releases the area.
• Provide complete construction build packet with full design deliverables on time.
• Learn new software and adapt to new technology as required.
• Create complex fiber splicing matrices and Lightpath circuits.
• Ensure fiber availability and determine reinforcement requirements.
• Design major plant upgrades and perform undesigns/redesigns.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously with accuracy.
