Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Labor seeks a Health and Safety Compliance Supervisor for District 10, Wilmington-based operations. You will direct daily OSH compliance activities, supervise officers, and ensure proper investigations, inspections, and enforcement of safety standards.

You will coordinate training, case management, and liaison with employers, employees and officials, while occasionally traveling to field sites and conferences. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health or related field plus five years of progressive OSH experience.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and enforcement practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and manage daily health and safety compliance operations for District 10 (Wilmington Field Office).
• Provide administrative and technical supervision over health and safety officers in investigations, inspections, education and training, and case management.
• Distribute assignments to field personnel to ensure quality, timeliness and effectiveness of tasks.
• Review case files and inspections for technical content and proper enforcement of rules.
• Oversee district/area office operations, staff coordination, and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
• Interact with the public, employers, employees and officials; participate in hearings and provide testimony.
• Travel to field locations, conferences, and training sessions.
