Job summary

West Fraser is seeking a Production Manager to lead OSB production teams, ensure safe operation, maintain quality, and meet targets. The role emphasizes staffing, mentoring, and continuous improvement within a safety-first environment.

The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, drive efficiency, and collaborate with senior staff on safety, finance, and purchasing issues while promoting from within the organization.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated success leading a manufacturing production team with at least 5 years in a manufacturing environment.
• BS or BA diploma or equivalent experience.
• Strong leadership/people experience in growing and developing supervisors.
• Ability to define and communicate expectations and then hold people accountable.
• Training others to gain efficiency and increase production levels.

Responsibilities

• Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning manufacturing requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments, considering headcount and budgetary limitations and time constraints.
• Direct and coordinate production and labor to gain margin improvement
• Develop or implement production tracking or quality control systems, analyze the production, quality control, or other operational reports to detect production problems
• Mentor assigned personnel and promote efficiency and build leadership and team skills
• Direct process improvements in the work area to gain efficiencies
• Communicate effectively with all team members and ensure miscommunications are minimized
• Coordinate with other senior staff members on personnel, safety, finance, and purchasing issues, looking for ways to increase and enhance all functional areas
• Lead by example
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager
