West Fraser is seeking a Lead Production – Planer Mill & Sawmill to assist the Supervisor in daily operations, lead a team, and ensure safety and quality standards across both plants. This role requires coordinating with maintenance, QA, and production teams to meet goals.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of planer mill machinery, and the ability to manage production metrics.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in a related field is a plus.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent knowledge of planer mill machinery and operations.
• Proficient in quality control and production processes.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Effective communication and people skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead and train planer mill staff, including machine operators and maintenance personnel.
• Schedule shifts and assign tasks to ensure productivity and coverage.
• Fill in as supervisor on shift as needed.
• Oversee operation of planer mill machinery and ensure proper setup and maintenance.
• Coordinate with sawmill and other departments for steady raw material flow.
• Monitor production output to meet quality and quantity standards.
• Inspect lumber for quality and ensure compliance with standards.
• Implement and maintain quality control processes with QA team.
• Maintain and enforce safety protocols and conduct regular safety meetings.
