Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support Registered Nurses in direct and indirect patient care on our hospital units. This patient-first role emphasizes safety, compassion, and teamwork across the Northwestern Medicine system.

The ideal candidate holds a CNA certification or is currently enrolled in nursing school, is CPR/BLS certified, and has a high school diploma. Prior healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• CNA certification or enrollment in nursing program.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• At least 90% on annual Health and Safety Training quizzes.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and indirect patient care activities under RN supervision.
• Assist with admission, transfer, discharge processes.
• Take and record vital signs and monitor patient status.
• Provide basic nursing support and daily living assistance.
• Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding.
• Respond to patient call lights promptly and maintain a safe environment.
