Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support licensed nurses in direct and indirect patient care within the hospital setting. The role emphasizes a patient-first approach and collaboration within the Northwestern Medicine system to ensure safe, compassionate care.

Responsibilities include assisting with admissions, monitoring vital signs, performing phlebotomy, newborn care, and ensuring a clean, safe care environment.

Qualifications

• CNA Certification or currently enrolled in School of Nursing who has successfully completed basic clinical rotations.
• CPR recognition by the American Heart Association (BLS for Healthcare Providers).
• Minimum of 90% on annual mandatory Health and Safety Training quizzes.
• Unit based recognition for Capillary Blood Glucose Monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Care Activities: assist with admission, transfer, discharge; monitor vitals and report changes to RN; perform phlebotomy and glucose checks; assist with newborn care and routine nursing tasks.
• Indirect Patient Care: maintain a safe, clean environment; stock supplies; prepare rooms for assessment; participate in quality improvement and daily operations; document observations and communicate with RN.
