Northwestern Medicine in Illinois is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant (20 hours per week) for Orthopedics across Lake Forest and surrounding locations, including Grayslake, Gurnee, Glenview and Evanston. Schedule: Monday 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, Wednesday 8:30 AM–5:00 PM and Thursday 1:00 PM–5:00 PM.

The Medical Assistant supports physicians, nurses and licensed staff by facilitating patient flow, assisting with procedures such as ECGs, venipuncture and immunizations, and handling related

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Certification within six months in CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA or NRCMA.
• Completion of accredited Medical Assistant training program.
• One to two years of ambulatory care experience.
• Experience with electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Assures efficient patient flow through the site: Escorts patient to exam room, identifies patient with 2 identifiers and prepares patient for examination. Documents reason for visit and updates allergies, smoking history and pharmacy information.
• Assists practitioner with medical and surgical procedures: ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, setting up procedure trays, specimen collection and CLIA waived testing as directed by Provider.
• Provides high quality care by preparing and stocking exam rooms, maintaining inventory, disinfecting equipment, and supporting safety and compliance.
• Interacts with patients in a professional, friendly manner and communicates with the patient care team to ensure satisfaction.
• Performs delegated procedures common to the specialty area and other duties as assigned.
