Job summary

Methodist Medical Group in Dallas is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Orthopedics Clinic. The MA will support physicians, perform routine clinical tasks, document in patient charts, and participate in patient education.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited MA program, 2+ years preferred, national certification or within 90 days of hire, and CPR. Ability to lift patients and stand for long periods is expected.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• 2+ years of professional medical assisting in a practice setting is preferred.
• National/Registered Medical Assistant Certification or obtained certification within 90 days of hire date.
• Valid CPR certification.
• Requires full range of body motion including lifting patients and dexterity.

Responsibilities

• Maintains strict patient confidentiality and discretion with patient information.
• Implements patient care under supervision of physicians and MAs.
• Screens phone calls during triage under physician supervision.
• Performs intramuscular, intradermal, or subcutaneous injections with documentation.
• Assists physicians and MAs in providing nursing care and clinic procedures.
• Takes patient history and vitals.
• Checks for expired medications monthly and maintains documentation.
• Unpacks and maintains medical supplies and vaccines and organizes supply closet.
• Assists in Rx refills via Fax, E-Rx or phone and updates patient medication module.
• Demonstrates infection control procedures and maintains QA for autoclave.
