Job description

The Orthopedic Technician assists with the fabrication of splints and casting for various orthopedic injuries, and the application of prefab braces for the back, upper, and lower extremities. This position also involves setup, adjustment, and education on medical equipment such as crutches, as well as providing application of traction devices, CPMs, and overhead frames. Working under direct supervision, this role supports physicians in the recovery and treatment of orthopedic injuries.

Responsibilities include:

1. Assisting with applying and removing casts, splints, and other orthopedic appliances according to the physician's instructions.
2. Adjusting prefab braces for the back, upper, and lower extremities, and educating patients and staff on proper fitting and usage.
3. Educating patients and families on the proper use of crutches.
4. Supporting ortho/emergency physicians with reductions by stabilizing patients during procedures, and applying splints or slings post-procedure.
5. Documenting all services accurately in the patient's medical chart.
6. Performing other duties as assigned.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
