Job summary

Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan (OAM) in Grand Rapids is seeking a Surgery Scheduler/MA to coordinate surgical bookings with providers, patients, and facilities. You will collect information and prepare patients for surgery in a fast-paced orthopedic setting.

As a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant, you will assist with postoperative appointments, wound care, and suture removal, while ensuring accurate documentation and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience working in the healthcare field.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent coursework in nursing or health care.
• Current Medical Assistant Certification or Registration.
• Experience working with Electronic Medical Records.
• High School Diploma/GED.

Responsibilities

• Schedule all surgeries and post-operative appointments for assigned providers.
• Educate patients on all surgical procedures to ensure understanding and obtain documentation.
• Educate and reinforce Physicians’ instructions to patients and ensure compliance.
• Coordinate with patients and third-party providers to ensure information is available for surgeries.
• Confirm schedules and ensure preoperative requirements are met; call patients day before surgery.
