Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Three (3) years of patient registration and insurance processes.
• One year of healthcare administration/insurance authorization experience.
• College graduate (preferred).
• Three or more (3+) years of patient/client-facing experience (preferred).
• Medical office experience (preferred).
• EPIC experience (preferred).
• MS Office experience (preferred).
• Bilingual, Spanish-speaking (preferred).
• Understanding of HIPAA practices and patient confidentiality (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgery cases, procedures, and outpatient visits.
• Determine if insurance pre-authorization is needed and mail information packets to patients.
• Preauthorize procedures and surgeries; obtain referrals and authorizations as necessary.
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams from decision to day of surgery.
• Work with physicians and teams to ensure patients are ready for surgery.
• Submit authorization revisions within designated timeframes.
• Train surgery schedulers/preauthorization specialists.
