Job summary

OrthoVirginia in Herndon, VA is seeking an Operatory Surgical Charge Capture Specialist who translates surgical activity into accurate charges, coding, and reimbursement. This role blends clinical knowledge with revenue cycle tasks to ensure cases are documented and billed correctly.

You will work across the Operatory, Materials Management, and Revenue Cycle teams to optimize reimbursement, prevent charge leakage, and maintain compliant records.

Qualifications

• Orthopedic experience is required.
• Experience in a surgical environment (ASC, hospital OR, or office-based operatory).
• Strong understanding of surgical workflows, implants, and supplies.
• CPC, CCS-P, CRC or similar coding credential.
• Proficiency with CPT, HCPCS and modifier coding.
• Experience with an electronic health record (EHR) system.

Responsibilities

• Review completed surgical cases to ensure procedures, supplies, and implants are accurately captured.
• Apply CPT/HCPCS coding and modifiers; verify documentation with surgeons.
• Collaborate with surgeons and clinical teams to resolve missing or conflicting documentation.
• Confirm billing requirements for surgical assistants.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies before claims submission.
• Reconcile implants, supplies, and materials with cut sheets and purchase orders.
• Ensure compliance and accurate documentation within EHR and inventory systems.
