Job summary

The Orthopedic Surgeon at St. Luke's University Health Network is responsible for pre-, intra-, and post-operative care across the network, advocating for patients and maintaining the highest clinical standards.

The role requires coordination with staff and involvement in education and research activities. Graduate of an accredited medical school with residency; board certification/eligibility; and active PA/NJ medical licensure are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical school.
• Completion of residency training in area of specialty.
• Completion of fellowship in area of specialty if appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Initial evaluation, history and physical examination of all patients whether non-surgical, outpatient, inpatient or ambulatory.
• Daily evaluation of patients and entering notes into the EMR.
• Perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
• Attend to patients in clinics.
• Participate in continuing medical education to maintain certification and license.
• Manage in-house and emergency admissions as appropriate.
• Participate in orthopaedic/hand call as assigned.
• Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, assistants, specialists and residents.
• Refer patients to other practitioners or resources as necessary.
• Conduct research and continuing medical education to increase knowledge base.
• Act as adjunct faculty to college/university programs as clinical instructors if appropriate.
