Job summary

Carle Health is hiring an experienced registered nurse for NT4, a 41-bed unit specializing in total joint replacements, trauma and related areas. The role involves direct patient care, wound management and collaboration with physicians to develop and execute care plans.

The ideal candidate holds an IL RN license, BLS, and 1+ year of experience in relevant fields. A sign-on bonus of $10,000 is offered to external applicants with 3-year commitment.

Qualifications

• RN license and BLS certification required or within 30 days of hire.
• Experience in orthopedics/trauma or joint replacement preferred.
• Ability to document and communicate clearly with healthcare team.
• Know-how of post-op wound care and patient mobility principles.

Responsibilities

• Performs unit-specific nursing duties and supports care plan.
• Implements procedures and care theories for the area of practice.
• Maintains accurate nursing documentation for patient care.
• Assesses patients at admission and develops care plans.
• Implements care plans, interventions and patient procedures.
• Adjusts care plans to ensure patient and staff safety.
• Communicates with team to resolve issues.
• Provides feedback for peer development and knowledge sharing.
• Identifies learning needs and initiates solutions.
• Meets departmental competency requirements.
• Completes annual education per program requirements if applicable.
• Assesses orthopedic and medical/surgical patients each shift.
• Educates patients on wound care, mobility, self-care and transitions.
• Coordinates with physicians and surgeons on patient care.
• Delegates and monitors interventions of HCT staff.
• Sets up traction and mobilization devices for mobility and wound care.
• Manages wound devices and drainage systems.
