Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking an Administrative & Referral Coordinator for the Orthopedic Clinic to liaison with patients, gather registration information, schedule appointments, verify demographics and financials, and obtain pre-authorizations.

The role requires coordination with providers, nursing staff, and referring physicians to ensure access to care, accurate billing, and efficient patient flow, while maintaining confidentiality and a patient-centered approach.

Qualifications

• Education requirements include high school diploma; degrees preferred.
• 3 years in financial clearance or referral scheduling.
• Experience with HMO and PPO insurance approvals.
• Proficiency with EPIC, Caretracker, IDX and scheduling software.
• Strong communication and confidentiality skills.

Responsibilities

• Register patients, gather demographic and financial data, and ensure proper reimbursement.
• Obtain pre-authorizations and manage referrals with insurers.
• Coordinate provider assignments and inform staff of managed care guidelines.
• Schedule appointments, monitor schedules, and reschedule as needed.
• Monitor registration quality and patient flow; support training and quality.
