Job summary

Barbour Orthopaedics & Spine in Macon, GA seeks an experienced Physician Assistant to join our orthopedic team. You will work with supervising physicians to perform patient evaluations, develop treatment plans, order and interpret imaging, and provide pre- and post-operative care.

Requirements include NCCPA certification and an active PA/NP license, with a minimum of two years in orthopedics, urgent care, or sports medicine.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner Program.
• NCCPA certified.
• Active Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license.
• Minimum of two years of clinical experience in orthopaedics, urgent care, or sports medicine.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic testing.
• Formulate treatment plans in collaboration with supervising orthopedic physicians.
• Order, interpret, and review diagnostic studies (X-rays, MRI, CT, labs, etc.).
• Provide pre‑operative and post‑operative patient care, education, and follow‑up.
• Assist surgeons in the operating room, including first assist duties.
• Perform procedures such as joint injections, wound care, casting, splinting, and suturing.
• Manage both inpatient and outpatient orthopedic cases.
• Document patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner within the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Participate in patient education, counseling, and care coordination.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes.
• Maintain current knowledge of orthopedic best practices, guidelines, and standards.
