Job summary

Barbour Orthopaedics & Spine is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join our team in the metro Atlanta area. The PA will work closely with orthopedic physicians, perform exams, order and review tests, and help manage both inpatient and outpatient cases.

The role emphasizes high-quality patient care with no-call/no-weekends and opportunities to assist in the operating room, including first assist duties. A strong orthopedics background and NCCPA certification are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner program.
• NCCPA certified.
• Active Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license.
• Minimum of two years of clinical experience in orthopaedics, urgent care, sports medicine, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic testing.
• Formulate treatment plans in collaboration with supervising orthopedic physicians.
• Order, interpret, and review diagnostic studies (X-rays, MRI, CT, labs, etc.).
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient care, education, and follow-up.
• Assist surgeons in the operating room, including first assist duties.
• Perform procedures such as joint injections, wound care, casting, splinting, and suturing.
• Manage both inpatient and outpatient orthopedic cases.
• Document patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner within the EMR.
• Participate in patient education, counseling, and care coordination.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes.
• Maintain current knowledge of orthopedic best practices, guidelines, and standards.
