Job summary

UNC Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Nursing Assistant I to join the 6 West Orthopaedics unit for full-time night shifts (36 hours/week). The role involves direct and indirect patient care under supervision of an RN or physician, with duties ranging from vital signs to basic wound care and patient education.

Qualified applicants should have NC Nursing Assistant I certification and BLS, with a preference for at least six months of experience in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Nursing assistant certification and BLS certification required.
• Prefer six months of nursing assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and health care providers with routine examinations and procedures and procure equipment during emergencies.
• Aide patients in psychiatry with orientation, therapy support, verbal de-escalation, and milieu monitoring.
• Observe and document patient information and report changes to RN/physician.
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Provide care including vital signs, specimen collection, wound care, ROM exercises, and postural drainage.
• Provide direct personal care for activities of daily living.
• Perform indirect care including cleaning, restocking, transporting, and orientation of staff.
• Reinforce and document patient education and distribute educational materials.
