Job summary

OrthoTexas is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and clinical staff in an orthopedic setting. You will prepare patients for examinations, assist with casting, bracing, and wound care, and ensure accurate EMR documentation. You will coordinate patient flow and scheduling across a multi-site clinic.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and adherence to HIPAA guidelines, with occasional travel between sites as needed and a focus on high-quality musculoskeletal care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or CCMA) or completion of an accredited MA program preferred.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems.
  • Current CPR certification (CPR, BLS) preferred.
  • Two years orthopedic experience preferred.
  • Three years medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist with orthopedic procedures (casting, bracing, wound care).
  • Maintain accurate documentation in EMR and coordinate patient flow.
  • Schedule appointments and manage follow-up communication.
  • Assist providers during examinations and prepare medications, x-rays, rehab orders as needed.
  • Monitors inventory and maintain exam rooms and equipment.
