Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the Orthopedic Surgery department within the Greater Charlotte region. This full-time position involves rooming patients, taking vital signs, documenting medical histories, and assisting providers with procedures in a busy orthopedic clinic.

Responsibilities include performing lab tasks, venipuncture, and handling specimen processing, as well as vaccinations and medications per safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or clinical military training in lieu of a program.
• Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies.
• Performs rooming tasks: vital signs, medical history, health maintenance reviews, screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties: venipuncture, specimen handling, POCT, and CLIA-waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines as per protocol.
• Handles refills, insurance authorizations, scheduling, and referrals.
• Maintains clean work environment and ensures equipment is stocked.
• May train or onboard teammates.
• Provides age-appropriate patient care across the life span.
