Job summary

Summit Orthopedics is seeking Orthopedic Clinical Assistants for a full-time, gap-year program based in the Twin Cities. Role involves clinical support for physicians, patient preparation, and administrative duties in an orthopedic outpatient setting.

Typical hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with potential float to other Summit locations. The position requires a high school diploma, plus a gap-year bachelor’s degree in a health-related field and completion of Basic Life Support.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• 6 months of related clinical or healthcare experience preferred.
• One-year commitment (rotations starting this fall) required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Pre-Medicine, Pre-Physician's Assistant, Nursing or related field for gap year program.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient flow, room patients and obtain medical histories; prepare for evaluation/treatment.
• Prepare instruments and equipment for examinations; stock rooms between patients.
• Assist with casting, splinting, and dispensing Durable Medical Equipment (DME).
• Provide standardized patient education instructions, verbal or written.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and verify insurance and demographics.
• Refill prescriptions for physicians; manage patient records and paperwork.
• Perform administrative duties and support care team as assigned.
