Job summary

UNC Health Care System is seeking an Athletic Trainer to serve in a physician extender role within Orthopaedics - CP II in Chapel Hill, NC. The role emphasizes clinical evaluation, education, injury prevention, treatment, and reconditioning in collaboration with team physicians.

Expect to work as an embedded member in a school setting where supervision may be limited. The position requires a Bachelor's degree, ATC certification, North Carolina licensure or eligibility, BLS for healthcare

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills using medical terminology.
• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline is required.
• One year of athletic trainer experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Casting and Patient Care—castings, splints, braces, crutches and DME; patient education for these items.
• Disability cases—handling patient clinical calls and disability paperwork.
• Patient Education—home exercise programs and therapeutic exercise; effective communication with patients and staff.
• Patient Information—collecting patient history, updating charts, ordering tests as needed; perform thorough history and examination.
