Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health is seeking an Orthopaedic Technician to support Cast tech duties across ambulatory, inpatient, and ER settings. The role collaborates with surgical and therapy teams to deliver timely patient care in a fast-paced Orthopaedic Practice.

Responsibilities include applying casts and braces, educating patients on care, and assisting with procedures. Strong communication and knowledge of medical terminology are essential for success in this role at our NH facilities.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills required.
• Ability to read and understand medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Applies and adjusts casts, braces, and splints; assists with traction equipment.
• Educates patients on care and usage of casts.
• Trains others on proper casting techniques.
• Assists physician during minor procedures.
• Assists in wound cleansing, fracture reduction, and dressing application.
• Fits thermoplastic splints/braces and inspects cast saws.
• Escorts patients and aids in exam room flow; supports nursing staff.
• Maintains inventory and submits charges for devices dispensed.
• Participates in site-wide committees and in-services.
• Maintains a positive attitude toward learning and teamwork.
