Responsibilities

• Applies and adjusts fiberglass casts, braces, and/or splints; assists with orthopaedic devices.
• Educates patients on care and usage of casts.
• Acts as a resource for colleagues with less casting experience.
• Trains staff on proper casting techniques.
• Assists physician during minor procedures.
• Cleanses wounds and assists in reducing fractures and applying surgical dressings.
• Fits thermoplastic splints and braces.
• Inspects cast saws for optimal performance.
• Assists with patient flow and escorts to exam rooms.
• Maintains inventory and submission of charges for devices dispensed.
