Job summary

Virginia Family Dentistry is seeking anexperienced Orthodontic Assistant to join our Ironbridge/Mechanicsville team in Richmond, VA. The role involves chair-side assistance, taking x-rays and impressions, and educating patients on treatment and oral hygiene.

Typical hours are 8 am-5 pm Monday-Thursday and 8 am-1 pm Friday, at two office locations. Competitive hourly pay and comprehensive benefits are offered to full-time staff.

Qualifications

• 6 months or more of orthodontic experience or completion of a dental assisting program.
• X-ray certification required.
• BLE/BLS certification required.
• Strong time management skills.
• Respect patient confidentiality and privacy.
• Ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Chair side assist the doctor by passing instruments and assisting during procedures.
• Place, change and remove elastic separators, arch wires, brackets and ligature ties.
• Take intra-oral measurements for orthodontic procedures.
• Take x-rays and impressions of patients' teeth.
• Prepare trays and assist with sterilization and room setup.
• Keep the schedule on time and communicate with the front desk if behind schedule.
