Job summary

Toothbeary Pediatric Dentistry in Richmond, VA is seeking a Dental Assistant/Orthodontic Assistant to support the dentist and orthodontist during procedures and patient appointments. You will prepare treatment rooms, instruments and materials, and take records as permitted by state regulations.

You’ll assist with orthodontic tasks such as bracket placement, wire changes, impressions, and appliance delivery; provide hygiene guidance, sterilize equipment, keep the workspace welcoming, and update

Qualifications

• Dental Assistant or Orthodontic Assistant experience preferred.
• Orthodontic experience is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred.
• Any required state dental assisting certifications or radiology credentials.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist and orthodontist during clinical procedures and patient appointments.
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials.
• Take dental/orthodontic records, photographs, and X-rays as permitted by state regulations.
• Assist with orthodontic procedures, including bracket placement, wire changes, impressions/scans, and appliance delivery.
• Provide patients with instructions regarding oral hygiene and orthodontic care.
• Sterilize and maintain instruments and clinical equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming treatment environment.
• Update patient records accurately and efficiently.
• Communicate professionally with patients, parents, and team members.
• Help provide an exceptional patient experience from check-in through treatment.
• Follow all OSHA, infection-control, and office safety procedures.
