Virginia Family Dentistry in Prince George, VA seeks an experienced Orthodontic Assistant to join our Tri-Cities/Chester team. The role involves chair-side support, taking x-rays, impressions, and handling elastic separators, wires, and brackets, with a focus on patient education and infection control.

Typical hours are 8 am–5 pm Monday–Thursday and 8 am–12 pm Friday, with travel between two locations. Prior orthodontic experience, X-ray and BLS certification are required, and a strong team

• 6 months or more of orthodontic experience or completion of a dental assisting program.

Responsabilités

• Chair side assist the doctor by passing instruments and handling intra-oral fluids during examinations and procedures.
• Place, change and remove elastic separators, arch wires, brackets and ligature ties.
• Take intra-oral measurements for orthodontic procedures.
• Take scans for diagnostic and working models.
• Ensure instrument sterilization and infection control.
• Review the doctor’s schedule daily and prepare for patient appointments with needed supplies.
• Keep the schedule on time and communicate with the front desk about delays.
• Maintain a lab tracking system and ensure lab work is ready for patients’ appointments.
• Assist or perform administrative duties when needed.
• Order and unpack supplies and help with unscheduled patient treatments.
