Vitana Pediatric & Orthodontic Partners is seeking an Orthodontic Dental Assistant to support the orthodontist and clinical team in delivering high-quality patient care.

The role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail and the ability to create a welcoming patient experience for all ages. Experience with dental software and X-ray certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Prior dental assisting experience is required, orthodontic experience preferred.
  • Dental Assistant certification as required by state.
  • Orthodontic assisting experience or certification if applicable.
  • X-ray certification as required by state.
  • CPR/BLS certification preferred.
  • Experience with dental software (Dentrix, Ortho2, Open Dental, etc.) preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the orthodontist during clinical procedures.
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms.
  • Take dental impressions, digital scans, and photographs.
  • Place and remove orthodontic appliances under doctor supervision.
  • Adjust archwires and change elastics as directed.
  • Take orthodontic X-rays in compliance with state guidelines.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene, appliance care, and treatment expectations.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and clinical notes; ensure OSHA/HIPAA compliance.
  • Support efficient patient flow and operatory turnover.
  • Assist with inventory management and stocking supplies.

Position Overview

The Orthodontic Dental Assistant plays a key role in supporting the orthodontist and clinical team in delivering high-quality patient care. This role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to create a welcoming and comfortable experience for patients of all ages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the orthodontist during clinical procedures
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms
  • Take dental impressions, digital scans, and photographs
  • Place and remove orthodontic appliances under doctor supervision (brackets, wires, bands, etc., per state regulations)
  • Adjust archwires and change elastics as directed
  • Take orthodontic X-rays in compliance with state guidelines
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene, appliance care, and treatment expectations
  • Maintain accurate patient records and clinical notesEnsure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols
  • Support efficient patient flow and operatory turnover
  • Assist with inventory management and stocking supplies
