Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the NT4 Ortho-Urology Surgical Unit. This 41-bed unit provides care for acute ortho and urology surgical patients, with a 1:4–6 nurse-to-patient ratio and a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include administering medications, IV piggybacks, and collaborating with RNs and physicians. A sign-on bonus of $2,500 is available for external applicants with a 2-year commitment.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse certification (IDFPR) and BLS within 30 days (AHA).
• Education: College Diploma as LPN is required.

Responsibilities

• Passes all medications, hangs IV piggybacks and fluids (excluding IV Push).
• Charts assessments and care plans once the RN completes initial assessment.
• Communicates orders with physicians/APPs to coordinate care and dressing changes as needed.
• Insert and care for NG tube, feedings, ostomy care, discharge instructions.
