Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the NT4 Ortho-Urology Surgical Unit in Urbana, IL. The unit is a 41-bed fast-paced setting focused on hip/knee replacements and acute ortho and urology care, with a 1:4-6 nurse-to-patient ratio.

You will collaborate with therapists, ensure patient safety, and provide education across the recovery pathway. Qualifications include BLS and RN license in Illinois, HS Diploma or GED, and an Associate's Degree.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed RN in Illinois (IDFPR).
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire (AHA).
• Education: HS Diploma/GED and an Associate's Degree or higher.

Responsibilities

• Performs all responsibilities and duties as defined by the unit scope.
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation for the healthcare team.
• Assess patients on admission and develop care plans aligned with unit standards.
• Implement and monitor the plan of care; adjust as needed.
• Ensure patient and staff safety by reporting hazards and incidents.
• Provide feedback and collaborate with colleagues for learning and care improvement.
• Identify learning needs and pursue appropriate solutions.
• Manage ortho and medical/surgical patient education on wound care, mobility, self-care, and transitions.
• Coordinate with physicians for the care of ortho and medical/surgical patients.
• Delegate and supervise HCT staff interventions.
• Set up orthopaedic traction and manage traction devices for mobility and wound care.
• Manage wound care devices such as wound vacs, drains, and urological devices.
