Job summary

The Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery Unit at VCU Health is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician to join a fast-paced surgical team. You will provide direct, age-appropriate patient care under the supervision of RNs and licensed practitioners, focusing on safety, comfort, and accurate data collection.

Essential duties include monitoring patients, assisting with daily activities, taking vital signs, recording data, preparing the environment, and participating in mandatory trainings to maintain

Qualifications

• High School Degree or equivalent.
• Certification/Completion of one of the following: CNA, MA, EMT, Military Corpsmen/Medic, Nursing Aide Training.
• Experience within a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, direct age-appropriate patient care under RN supervision.
• Monitor conditions and report updates to the health care team.
• Assist with hygiene, daily living activities, and comfort needs.
• Maintain safe, clean, stocked unit environment per policy.
• Record vital signs, intake/output, and patient information accurately.
• Participate in mandatory trainings and adhere to safety initiatives.
