Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Orthopedic technician certification preferred.
  • Successful completion of ortho technician orientation required upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of unit nursing or unit leadership, performs basic patient care technician/nursing assistant functions.
  • Assists with fractures, casting, placement of skeletal pins and removal of sutures or pins.
  • Assembles and attaches orthopedic traction equipment and devices.
  • Maintains cast room and inventory of orthopedic equipment and supplies.
