Job summary

UF Health is seeking an Orthopedic Technician to assist with cast application, CPM equipment, traction devices, and patient care in the Orthopedic Clinic and hospital settings.

The role supports surgeons in the OR, ED, or Trauma Center, maintains sterile technique, records procedures, and ensures proper inventory and equipment hygiene. CPR/BLS certification and at least two years of orthopedic patient-care experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• GED or HS diploma required.
• Knowledge of orthopedic procedures and medical terminology.
• CPR/BLS certification and 2 years patient-care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Applies a variety of casts including cast braces, splints, and other Orthotic devices.
• Changes dressings, removes staples and/or sutures, removes external fixtures, and evaluates skin condition.
• Applies, monitors, evaluates, and maintains various continuous passive motion equipment (CPM) and its proper range of motion (ROM).
• Applies hinged orthosis equipment; Sets up and maintains traction and/or suspension devices.
• Assists orthopedic surgeons in the operating room, Emergency Department, or Trauma Center.
• Maintains inventory of orthopedic supplies and devices; maintains and cleans all equipment and the cast rooms.
• Sets each type of Orthosis in accordance with physician's orders.
