Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in state of practice.
• BSN degree from an accredited institution; BSN must be completed within four years of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications may be required.
• One year of clinical nursing experience; demonstrated leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provides expertise in specialty areas; participates in clinical programs and policy development; supports standardization of care protocols.
• Educate and mentor nursing staff and other healthcare professionals on best practices and new developments in the specialty area.
• Uses research to improve nursing practice and develop care standards.
• Represents department on committees and works with healthcare team to coordinate and optimize patient care.
• Acts as consultant and liaison to healthcare team, patients, families, and community.
• Promote and integrate evidence-based practices into clinical care, staying current with the latest research.
• Directs and coordinates care team; provides or delegates care according to plan and licensure guidelines.
• Promotes nursing profession; integrates legal and ethical standards; complies with regulatory standards and documentation requirements.
• Uses assessment data to develop individualized care plans with patient and family involvement.
• Reviews patient response to interventions and revises plans as needed.
