Job summary

Palomar Health in Poway, CA is seeking a Medical Assistant to support a busy Orthopedics clinic. Under supervision of an RN, LVN, PA or physician, you will register patients, take vital signs, perform health screenings, schedule visits, and maintain medical records.

You will assist physicians with examinations and procedures, prepare rooms and supplies, and ensure infection control. Strong phone skills, English fluency, and basic PC software knowledge are required, with bilingual Spanish a plus.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of Medical Assistant Certificate program with relevant front and back office experience
• Minimum 0-6 months related experience
• Preferred: Bilingual - Spanish
• Required: American Heart Association BLS - Heartsaver

Responsibilities

• Register patients and input data in computer system, take vital signs and health screening
• Schedule appointments and provide strong phone/customer service
• Prepare rooms with instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment
• Assist physicians with examinations, procedures and direct patient care
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure confidentiality
• Follow infection control policies and handle waste materials
• Document transactions and orders in medical records
