Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Orthopedics department in Crystal Lake. This full-time role involves travel to Huntley clinics and a schedule of 3 ten-hour shifts and 2 five-hour shifts weekly, totaling 40 hours.

The successful candidate will assist physicians, prepare exam rooms, and support patient flow with a focus on high-quality care. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, MA certification within six months, BLS/CPR, and 0–2 years of experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification within six months from CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA or NRCMA; onboarding requires certification.
• Current BLS/CPR certification required.
• Zero to two years of experience in a relevant role.

Responsibilities

• Assures efficient patient flow through the site including escorting patients, obtaining vital signs, and preparing for examinations.
• Assists practitioner with medical and surgical procedures (ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, specimen collection, CLIA-waived testing).
• Prepares and stocks exam rooms, maintains inventory, and ensures sanitation per protocols.
• Interacts with patients and care team to promote satisfaction and efficient communication.
• Performs delegated procedures specific to the specialty as directed by the supervisor.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
