Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, PA, is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the LVPG-L Orthopedics team. This role supports clinical and clerical duties under supervision, assisting with exams and coordinating patient flow.

The ideal candidate has a Specialized Diploma in Medical Assisting with EMR experience and strong patient communication skills. CCMA or CMA certification is preferred; outpatient experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Specialized Diploma as a Medical Assistant.
• Experience with EMR, scheduling and patient communications is preferred.
• Ability to take initiative and work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient and equipment for exams/procedures and maintains exam rooms and clinical area.
• Performs medical history collection and medication reconciliation per protocol.
• Collects and prepares lab specimens and lab requisitions; schedules and obtains referrals and/or procedures.
• Identifies actual or potential patient risks and communicates them to the licensed nurse or provider.
• Gives front office support: greeting patients and handling phone communications; processes co-pays and appointments.
