Job summary

U.S. Xpress is seeking an Orientation Specialist in Memphis, TN. The role supports Driver Experience, Driver Development, Driver Qualification, and HR onboarding for new drivers across multiple terminals. It requires handling orientation documentation, DOT compliance, and on-site coordination.

The position operates from 8am to 5pm with no remote option. Training and benefits are described, including a comprehensive benefits package and 401k options.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Process drivers attending orientation efficiently and in compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Verify and scan driver documents (DLs, residency cards, SSNs) and file them.
  • Coordinate with Medical, PST, and EFA technicians on site.
  • Assist with paperless applications and orientation documentation corrections.
  • Support onboarding compliance and HR activities.
  • Review tax forms and HR audits as part of onboarding.
  • Travel to other terminals to support staffing needs.

Summary:
This role provides support to the Driver Experience, DriverDevelopment, Driver Qualification, and HR teams in on-boarding new driversacross multiple terminals. The Orientation Specialist is responsible for assistingwith all orientation documentation for Safety and Human Resources.
What You’ll Do:
Efficientlyand effectively process drivers attending orientation. Drivers must beprocessed through Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and U.S.Xpress policy to ensure a quick and effective hiring process.
Verify and scan all information on driver’s licenses, permanent residence cards, and social security cards. Clip all documents to driver files. This includes physical standards test, medical cards and physicals, chain of custody, and direct deposit forms.
Assist Medical, PST, and EFA technicians on site by coordinating/communicating information to drivers.
Assist drivers with correcting information on paperless applications and orientation documentation and resubmitting the applications for verification.
Assist Onboarding Compliance Specialists in obtaining additional safety documentation and information on driver applications.
Assist Human Resources and driver by reviewing tax forms, W-4, HR audits, and I-9.
Complete and review all other driver documentation in orientation.
Review Driver Medical Cards and Physicals and organize for driver to carry in the truck.
Travel and provide remote assistance to other terminals, as needed, to support personnel shortages.
Provide support for driver on-boarding activities that occur during non-traditional workdays/hours.
Communicate orientation schedules and anticipated driver volumes to our third-party providers who play a role in the on-site orientation process (i.e.: DOT physicals, drug testing, physical standards testing, EFA, etc.).
Responsible for addressing questions about drivers going through pending qualification or disqualification processes.
Communicate travel arrangements for drivers who are disqualified and/or are hired from pending qualification status.
Assist walk-in applicants and return-to-work employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience in the transportation industry preferred
Skills/Certifications
DOT knowledge of driver requirements preferred

Good organization and communication skills required

Knowledge of Excel, Paperless System, and AS 400 preferred
Ability to scan and use copy machine preferred
