Job summary

HealthPRO Pediatrics, a division of HealthPro Heritage, seeks an Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS) to support students who are blind or have low vision in a school-based setting. The full-time, itinerant role serves approximately 15 students across elementary to high school in the Baltimore metropolitan area.

You will collaborate with teachers and families to foster independence, safety and confidence in navigating school, home and community environments.

Qualifications

  • Must be Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS) certified through ACVREP.
  • Minimum education: High School Diploma; Associates Degree preferred.
  • Interest in pursuing a therapy or educational career is a plus.
  • Basic computer and web-based programs experience (e.g., Google Meet).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Personable with teachers, parents and students from K-12.
  • Collaborates with Classroom Teachers.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in direct supervision of children in the assigned program as directed by the teacher or administrator.
  • Demonstrates understanding of students’ disabilities.
  • Loads/unloads wheelchair-bound students, if needed.
  • Maintains schedule flexibility and teamwork.
  • Communicates and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
  • Keeps confidentiality regarding all aspects of work with special education children.
  • Participates in meetings, training programs, and in-service sessions.
  • Performs other duties as directed by Principal and Teacher.

Location: Baltimore Metropolitan Area, MD | School-Based | Full-Time | W-2Setting: Public School District | Multiple School SitesStart Date: August 31, 2026 | 2026–2027 School Year37.5 Hours per Week | Approximately 15 Students Receiving Direct Services

HealthPRO Pediatrics is seeking a compassionate and experienced Orientation & Mobility Specialist (O&M / COMS) to support students who are blind, have low vision, or have functional visual limitations in a school-based setting.

This is a full-time, itinerant position supporting students from elementary through high school across multiple school locations. You will have an approximate direct-service caseload of 15 students, with additional opportunities for consultations and evaluations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in all meetings, training programs, and in-service sessions as assigned by the building or district administrator
  • Performs such other duties as may be directed by the Principal and Teacher
Qualifications

  • Prefer someone with interest in pursing a therapy or educational career
  • Basic computer and web based programs experience, such as Google meets, chat, etc.
  • Need to possess good written and verbal skills
  • Personable individual who enjoys working with Teachers, Parents, and Students from Kindergarten to 12th grade
  • Will be working alongside Classroom Teachers
