Job summary

The Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research, operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc., seeks a Biomedical Engineer I for the Standardized Organoid Modeling Center in Frederick, MD. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• Minimum of two years of progressively responsible laboratory research experience.
• Working knowledge of biomedical engineering and biomedical/medical image processing.
• Hands-on experience with basic laboratory techniques germane to biomedical engineering.
• Experience developing and implementing automated mechanical or computational workflows.
• Experience with rapid prototyping/computer-aided design approaches.
• Experience operating standard biomedical laboratory equipment and performing routine quality control procedures.
• Experience analyzing and reporting experimental results.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex assignments independently and report to supervisor/scientist.
• Evaluate suitability and quality control of research assays.
• Develop new assays or automated workflows and validate reliability.
• Prepare and execute research plans, proposals, or new production methodologies.
• Possess originality and judgment in a research laboratory or specialized service.
