Job summary

The Laboratory Animal Sciences Program at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research seeks a highly qualified PhD professional to lead tissue engineering and biomedical engineering initiatives. You will advance organoid models and pre-clinical studies, applying advanced microscopy and data analysis to develop novel technologies and mechanisms with real scientific and medical impact.

Qualifications

  • PhD required with CHEA-equivalency for foreign degrees.
  • Expertise in tissue engineering or biomedical engineering principles.
  • Hands-on experience with basic and advanced lab techniques and microscopy.
  • Proven ability to document data and maintain records.
  • Experience operating standard lab equipment and QC procedures.
  • Experience publishing peer-reviewed research or similar outputs.
  • Demonstrated sustained accomplishment during doctorate work.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and statistical/scientific software.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Execute assigned pre-clinical research and development strategies.
  • Develop methods and evaluation criteria under supervision.
  • Apply scientific principles and contribute to novel technologies.
  • Share expertise with colleagues and troubleshoot experiments.
  • Maintain current knowledge of state-of-the-art principles.
  • Contribute to scientific literature and conferences.
  • Consider multiple perspectives and future impact of research.
  • Solve complex problems with broad business impact.
  • Possibly participate in patent development.
  • Interface with departments as an internal consultant.
  • Meet pre-set targets within the discipline.
