Job summary

Johns Hopkins Medicine is seeking an Organ Procurement Specialist to oversee the preparation, operation, and monitoring of organ preservation systems during donor organ recovery and transportation. You will travel to donor hospitals, manage perfusion solutions, and support transplant teams to optimize preservation and outcomes.

The role requires ACLS certification, a perfusion-related degree, and experience in ICU/OR settings; RN credential is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Perfusion, Cardiovascular Science, or related field.
  • ACLS certification is required.
  • CCP certification preferred; RN is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to donor hospitals for organ procurement procedures.
  • Prepare, manage, and troubleshoot perfusion solutions, preservation techniques and recovery equipment.
  • Assist with initiation, monitoring and maintenance of organ preservation systems, including ex vivo heart and lung perfusion where applicable.
  • Collect and document hemodynamic, metabolic and laboratory data during transplantation.
  • Collaborate with transplant surgeons, anesthesiologists and procurement teams during donor organ recovery.

Job Details:

The Organ Procurement Specialist is responsible for the preparation, operation, and monitoring of organ preservation systems used during donor organ recovery and transportation. This role works closely with transplant surgeons, organ procurement organizations (OPOs), and transplant coordinators to optimize donor organ preservation and support successful transplantation outcomes. Among the job functions include: travel to donor hospitals for organ procurement procedures; prepare, manage, and troubleshoot perfusion solutions, preservation techniques, and recovery equipment; assist with initiation, monitoring, and maintenance of organ preservation techniciques, including ex vivo heart and lung perfusion systems, where applicable; collect and document hemodynamic, metabolic, and laboratiory data through transplant;and collaborate with transplant surgeons, anesthesiologists, and procurement teans during donor organ recovery.

Hours: On call; Requires travel

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Perfusion, Cardiovascular Science, or related field
  • 2 years of experience in ICU, CVICU, OR or related field required. 5 years preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Certification through the American Board of Cardivascular Perfusion (Certified Clinical Perfusionist-CCP) preferred
  • Registered Nurse (Preferred)

Salary Range: Minimum 45.28/hour - Maximum $74.76/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
