Job summary

We Are Sharing Hope SC seeks a Family Services Coordinator I to provide on-site support for organ and tissue donation in the Pee Dee region. You will bridge families with donors, coordinate hospital conversations, and lead the authorization process while collaborating with SHSC staff and AOCs.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, strong communication skills, and a passion for organ donation. A rotating on-call schedule, including nights and weekends, is expected to ensure 24/7 response in the

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience in medical/healthcare field preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication across diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-call response to referrals within the designated service area.
• Support donor families throughout the donation process.
• Assess family dynamics and advocate for brain death testing when needed.
• Advocate for organ donation with hospital staff and physicians.
• Understand basics of brain death and withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment.
• Lead the authorization process with donor families.
• Review medical history to determine donor suitability with AOC.
• Build relationships with hospital staff on-site.
• Communicate effectively with donor families, physicians, and staff.
• Provide ongoing support to Donor Families and LNOK.
• Handle FPA Opposition effectively using the algorithm.
• Maintain a 24/7 on-call schedule across nights and weekends.
• Respond to donor family inquiries and refer to resources.
• Coordinate transitions to the Aftercare Program with DFS staff.
• Plan and participate in donor family events with Donor Family Services.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
