Job summary

The Clinical Response Coordinator (CRC) at Legacy of Hope partners with hospital staff to assess potential organ and tissue donors, perform on-site donor hospital visits, and coordinate labs and transportation after donation authorization. This role requires clinical judgment to determine medical suitability and family support when needed, with 12–15 days of 24-hour call per month.

Primary work location is at UAB Hospital in Alabama.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a medical or related field and one (1) year of experience in nursing, as an EMT, Paramedic, Respiratory Therapist, Social Worker, or experience in the donation industry required.
• Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
• Hospital experience, crisis intervention, and/or grief support preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured is required.
• Currently licensed/certified as a Nurse, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Paramedic, Respiratory Therapist, Social Worker, or related is preferred.

Responsibilities

• The CRC will perform on-site visits to donor hospitals within their coverage area.
• Determine initial suitability of potential organ and tissue donors in collaboration with the administrator on call.
• Coordinate the transport of blood for serological testing and tissue typing to the laboratories.
• Initiate donor management after brain death to ensure donor stability and coordinate arrival of procurement teams.
• Identify and support the needs of potential donor families when appropriate.
