Job summary

The Sierra Club Oregon Chapter seeks a Chapter Director in Portland, OR (remote within Oregon preferred). The role oversees fundraising, staff development, and strategic initiatives, working with a volunteer Executive Committee and staff to advance conservation, equity, and legislative goals.

Evening/weekend work may be required as the organization engages community leaders and donors across Oregon. Key responsibilities include leadership in fundraising, budget oversight, staff and volunteer

Qualifications

• Fundraising experience with donor relations and developing revenue streams.
• Budget development and financial management across multiple funding streams.
• Strong communication skills and ability to resolve organizational conflicts.
• Experience designing and implementing strategic plans and evaluating results.
• Commitment to understanding and addressing systems of oppression and privilege.
• Experience in grassroots organizing and coalition building.
• Ability to lead volunteer teams and develop leadership pathways.
• Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and proof of auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Fundraising leadership and annual planning with the fundraising committee and staff.
• Oversee staff and volunteer recruitment, management, and compliance with policies.
• Lead short- and long-term strategic, programmatic, and financial goals with Executive Committee.
• Oversee media and public relations strategies with staff and volunteers.
• Engage in outreach, coalition-building, and relationship development with partners and officials.
• Attend chapter meetings and regional coordination meetings; oversee chapter committees and chairs.
• Develop and track the budget with the Executive Committee and Treasurer; manage expenses.
• Ensure organizational compliance with all applicable laws and Sierra Club policies.
