Job summary

United States Space Force is seeking a detail-oriented specialist to review and process Military Duty Orders for Air Force Reserve Individual Reservists (IRs) worldwide. The role uses the AROWS-R system and related tools to ensure proper entitlements and compliance with governing regulations.

The candidate will handle a variety of orders, coordinate with personnel and finance databases, and maintain clear, professional communications with generals and other officers.

Job description

The primary purpose of this position is to review and process a variety of Military Duty Orders for over 7,000 Air Force Reserve Individual Reservists (IRs) assigned world-wide utilizing the Air Reserve Orders Writing System Reserve (AROWS-R) and multiple other systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes funding and travel policies, guidelines, and regulations to review orders for proper entitlements, training rules and the use of federal funds, processing orders transaction.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:

Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide variety of personnel, finance and travel policies, practices and procedures found in AFI 36- 2254, Vol(s) 1 & 3; AFI 65-109, DOD Financial Management Regulations (FMR) Volume 7A, the JTR regulations and precedents; and the systems and related documents used to gather and analyze outstanding orders. Knowledge of AROWS-R and the ability to process all types of orders; ability to access supporting documentation from all applicable personnel, finance, and travel databases. Knowledge of personal computer hardware and software used for processing orders, providing customer service, preparing metrics and/or reports and accomplishing training. Knowledge of word processing automation software functions to support office operations and produce a variety of textual documents such as form letters, memos and reports. Skill in dealing with difficult customers and high stress conversations with tact and diplomacy. Customers will be from outside the immediate organization and will include General officers. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally orally and in writing, to include ability to conduct briefings or training classes for small groups. General knowledge of AFRC programs and policies; working knowledge of MPA and RPA programs and other general Reserve programs; ability to learn or acquire knowledge from a variety of detailed instructions and procedures.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE:

Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE:

Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
