Location: Augusta

The Maine Health and Environmental Testing Laboratory (HETL) Finance Team is seeking an Inventory & Property Associate I to manage supply ordering, inventory tracking, and processing in a laboratory setting. HETL conducts analytical testing of clinical, environmental, and forensic samples to provide data for public and environmental health monitoring, policy making, and emergency response.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Sort and verify packing slips and invoices against vendor statements.
  • Enter capital equipment data into databases.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries regarding account balances.
  • Create requisitions, purchase orders, and delivery orders.
  • Maintain a computerized inventory control system.
  • Type routine business documents such as letters and memos.
  • Collaborate with management on projects.
  • Work independently on delegated tasks.
  • Identify inaccuracies in vendor databases.
  • Maintain organizational supply request spreadsheets.
  • Fulfill supply requests and support laboratorians with orders.
  • Facilitate proper distribution of samples within the laboratory.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience or training in office and administrative support demonstrating: 1) Knowledge of inventory and property management principles for warehouse or stockroom operations. 2) Ability to use independent judgment in handling exceptions to work routines.

All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Inventory and Property Assistant.

Preferred candidates will also have:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organizational, analytical, and mathematical skills
  • Self-motivation and problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of inventory management techniques
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database entry
  • Ability to collaborate with managers and staff for outreach and technical assistance
