Job summary

The New World Symphony seeks a Part-Time Orchestra Library Assistant to support the Director, Music Library with preparing, organizing, and maintaining music for rehearsals and performances. The anticipated schedule is 15–20 hours per week.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in music or related field and have 1–2 years of ensemble library experience, with strong organizational skills and music-reading ability. Proficiency with office equipment and notation software is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in music performance, composition, or related field with 1–2 years of ensemble library experience.
• Ability to read and write music in different clefs and transpositions.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, organize, distribute, collect, and file music for rehearsals and performances.
• Copy, collate, scan, print, bind, and assemble parts and folders.
• Mark bowings, cuts, edits, and rehearsal numbers as directed.
• Review parts for completeness, accuracy, and legibility.
• Disassemble and file music post-performance, including shipping rental music back to publishers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
